Selangor FC Utilizes Food Nutritionist To Boost Team Performance

In the era of modern football, various ways are done by football clubs to ensure that their players are always in the best condition. One of those efforts is to ensure a balanced diet is practiced by the players and constant monitoring.

Since the privatization of Selangor FC, various more scientific approaches have also been taken by the management, especially in doing off-field efforts to ensure that the Red Giants players are always provided with a diet that will give optimal performance.

In this effort, the SFC’s Sports Science Department has established a Sports Nutritionist unit since December 2020 specifically to plan the players' food intake, apart from monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of a diet plan.

This unit is not only dedicated to the main team of Selangor but also to the Selangor 2, youth and president squad are also exposed to the same nutrition program.

Prior to the existence of this Sports Nutritionist unit, Selangor FC had collaborated with the Sports Science department of UiTM Shah Alam to obtain their services and expertise in planning nutrition plans for the players.

Among the main tasks of this unit is to monitor an individual player's nutrition menu, provide nutritional food intake before and after matches and training sessions, perform urine tests to analyze the hydration level of each player, besides assisting players in planning the best diet for them.

Meanwhile, for players who are on the injury list, the Sports Nutritionist unit will assess and ensure that players get the right nutrition to help the recovery process while maintaining optimal weight.

Apart from that, this unit is also tasked to determine the players' daily food menu during camp-based training as required by MKN (National Security Council), MSN (National Sports Council), and MFL (Malaysia Football League) which started earlier this week.

To further strengthen this ongoing effort, Selangor FC will complete a special kitchen and dining room built specifically for the Sports Nutritionist unit to provide food before and after training for the players.

The new facility, currently under construction, is part of a new annex building next to the main field of the FAS Training Center, which also includes meeting rooms and a coaching office and is expected to be completed in a few months.

Selangor FC hopes that this Sports Nutritionist unit will continue to give a high commitment in carrying out their duties and be able to give the best impact to the Red Giants squad.
